LONDON: Tuesday 14 November 2023
EIDA is delighted to announce the launch of its new Advisory Council at an event today in the House of Lords hosted by Baroness Helena Kennedy of the Shaws KC.
EIDA Founder and President of the newly formed Advisory Council, Elizabeth Filkin CBE, will be joined by Chair of Trustees, Sarah Newton, and CEO, Susan Bright, to welcome the members of the Advisory Council, and senior leaders from the network’s Beacon members.
The EIDA Advisory Council will bring together a former Prime Minister, the Domestic Abuse Commissioner, and an illustrious group of members from diverse backgrounds in politics, law, culture, health, the charity and corporate sector, and academia, all with a commitment to tackle domestic abuse. Advisory Council members’ unique insights and experience will help inform EIDA’s work with employers, to ensure that all employers are equipped to support their employees facing domestic abuse and to play their part in a whole society response to domestic abuse.
EIDA Advisory Council President, Elizabeth Filkin, says: “Employers are transforming the care provided for people facing domestic abuse by offering information about specialist help and alerting all their people to the signs of domestic abuse and how they can support colleagues and victims-survivors in their wider communities.”
EIDA CEO, Susan Bright, says “I am delighted that EIDA has launched an Advisory Council with our founder, Elizabeth Filkin, as its President. It is wonderful to be joined by such a strong group of committed people to support and promote the next stage of our work as we encourage employers across the UK to take effective action on domestic abuse. Notes to editors
EIDA is a membership organisation supporting employers to take effective action on domestic abuse. EIDA has over 1,400 employer members, collectively employing over 25% of the UK’s workforce.
EIDA is an authoritative, impartial, and respected source of advice and information to business, government, media, and civil society. Its principal activities are awareness-raising, provision of resources, an events programme, and advocacy on behalf of employers in relation to domestic abuse. Core membership is free, and offers employers (public, private, and third sector) active participation in the EIDA events and communications programme; access to tools and resources; and public positive association with EIDA and its mission.
EIDA became a charity earlier this year. EIDA’s work is funded by its Beacon members and through a new Strategic Partner programme. We have also benefited from funding from government, trusts and foundations. This allows the vast majority of employer members to access EIDA’s resources and events without charge.
